Drew Peterson Case: Stolen Police Files Reportedly Detail Investigation (VIDEO)

Sensitive information relating to the case prosecutors are building against Drew Peterson were stolen from an Illinois State Police car, photocopied and dropped off at Fox News Chicago's studio, the station reported Wednesday.

Among the materials are documents never before seen by the public, including a timeline of what happened to his fourth wife, Stacy, a list of 59 leads and the police report from the night of the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio.

According to the station's account of the documents, police believe Stacy was dead by 10:59 a.m. on October 28, that Peterson and his step brother Tom Morphey removed the body in a "large blue round plastic container" and disposed of it in a quarry in the Bolingbrook area, where Peterson had been a police sergeant.

Wednesday, state police searched the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal in Romeoville and Lockport for evidence connected to Stacy's disappearance.

A spokesman for the Will County State's Attorney's office told Fox News he was aware the documents were stolen but did not think their revelation would compromise the investigation.
