They won't quit. Republicans failed to kill health care reform in Congress, but they aren't done trying to stop the new law from going into effect.

GOP governors are wasting time and taxpayer dollars filing frivolous lawsuits against the federal government, trying to have health care reform declared unconstitutional.

Mississippi Governor and Republican Governors Association (RGA) Chairman Haley Barbour is leading the way. He's ignoring the advice of his state attorney general, pandering to the far-right wing, and pushing forward with a lawsuit. He's not the only one. Virginia's newly elected governor, Bob McDonnell, has given his full support to a lawsuit in his state.

Americans need healthcare, not frivolous lawsuits. It's time for Haley Barbour, Bob McDonnell, and all of their Republican allies to abandon these lawsuits.

Haley Barbour isn't just pursuing a lawsuit in Mississippi. As the head of the RGA, he's helping more right-wing gubernatorial candidates all over the country who will do everything they can to overturn healthcare reform one way or another.

More statehouses controlled by Republicans will mean more time and money we'll see wasted on these lawsuits.

We're seeing state attorneys general in places like Michigan, Pennsylvania, Florida, and South Carolina suing to overturn the law in order to boost their own campaigns for governor.

Then there are Republican gubernatorial candidates around the country taking cues from Haley Barbour and pledging to force their attorneys general to file lawsuits -- if they get elected.

Legal scholars are unanimous: these lawsuits have no merit. So why are Republican governors pursuing this strategy? To score cheap political points.

President Obama's historic achievement will make a difference in the lives of millions of Americans.

It's time to stop the political posturing. It's time to stop wasting time and taxpayer dollars. Help us put an end to these frivolous lawsuits once and for all.
