'Duck Dynasty' Star Jep Robertson Shares New Details About Childhood Molestation

Last week, "Duck Dynasty" star Jep Robertson revealed that he was sexually abused by an older student when he was in grade school. Now, he's come forward with new details about the events.

In an interview with E! News, the 37-year-old opened up about what happened and why he kept it a secret.

"It's kind of hard for me," he explained. "It's embarrassing and all that so I didn't do it to get any attention for sure. I just did it to try to help others who've been through something similar."

Because he held onto the secret for so long, Robertson struggled with alcohol abuse, which eventually led to a family intervention. His wife Jessica explained to E! that Jep's mom Kay, "didn't even know all those years that it happened."

The youngest son of Duck Commander Phil Robertson describes being molested as a child in his new book, The Good, the Bad, and the Grace of God: What Honesty and Pain Taught Us About Faith, Family, and Forgiveness," which he co-wrote with his wife.

As reported by ET, the A&E star wrote about the incident, saying the girl seemed "sweet" at first.

"She'd come sit beside me, like a motherly figure almost. I remember her being sweet and taking care of me. I liked to sit in the back so she'd come sit with me."

Over time, Robertson said the girl started doing "strange things," like putting his hands under her shirt and making him pull down his pants. "I didn't know what was going on, but I knew something wasn't right."

As he revealed to E!, Robertson kept his secret in hopes that the pain would just go away.

"If you think long enough -- and I think I did -- that it didn't happen or I'm just never going to think about it again, it will never come back again," he explained. "What's sad is I'd look on Twitter and I saw several comments like, ‘How could you remember something when you were six years old?'"

He added, "This went on for a couple of years. I know exactly what happened. There's no I think or maybe."

The Good, the Bad, and the Grace of God will be available June 23, and "Duck Dynasty" will return to A&E on June 24 at 9:30 ET.
