Dudes Run Spartan Race As The Ambiguously Gay Duo From 'SNL' (PHOTO)

Ambiguously Gay Spartan Race

Spartan races are challenges of the most difficult order, testing physical strength, endurance and intelligence through a series of dangerous obstacles. But one Reddit user and his friend decided to make the whole ordeal a little more fun by dressing up as two of the most beloved superheroes of our time: Ace and Gary, the Ambiguously Gay Duo.

Robert Smigel created the homoerotic crimefighting pair made famous on "SNL," where they were voiced by Stephen Colbert and Steve Carell before they became famous in their own right. They have appeared periodically on the show since 1997, most recently in a live-action short where they were played by Jon Hamm and Jimmy Fallon.

The user, who goes by the handle Index_Dot_Zach, explained their Spartan stunt:

For those asking, NO we are not actually gay (not that there is anything WRONG with that!). Backstory is we got these costumes for this past halloween, wanted something funny and that no one else would be wearing so I thought these would be perfect. We then later signed up for this race and about 3 weeks before it I was like fuck it, let's do it in our costumes for shits and giggles.

Here's a question: Would the Ambiguously Gay Duo be as funny today? Double entendres will never go out of style, but increasingly, gay heroes are including less and less ambiguity in their public orientation.
