DUI Charge For Man Driving Five Miles Per Hour; Cops Stopped Car By Hand

Man Gets DUI Charge For Falling Asleep At The Wheel After Celebrating Divorce

Chicago Police officers surely pull over plenty of cars, but not every day can they stop the vehicles by hand.

That's what reportedly happened last Wednesday, though, as Raul Vega, Jr. was asleep at the steering wheel, coasting at five miles-per-hour down Cermak Road.

After tracking down the 2000 Oldsmobile Alero on foot and stopping it with their bare hands, officers found Vega behind the wheel with his eyes closed and his head cocked back, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The reason for his drunken state? He was "celebrating his divorce," the Sun-Times reports.

Officers charged Vega with a barrage of offenses: felony aggravated DUI, two misdemeanor counts of DUI, driving on an expired license, not wearing a seatbelt, driving left of center and driving too slow.
