Dull, Scotland and Boring, Oregon To Form 'Sister Community' Relationship

A Collective Yawn: Dull, Scotland And Boring, Oregon Forge Partnership

An unlikely partnership between a Scottish village named 'Dull', and an Oregon town named 'Boring' is in the works, reports the Telegraph.

The idea to pair the two first came to Elizabeth Leighton when the Scot was cycling through the Oregon logging town, notes the Daily Record.

Upon her return to Scotland, Leighton told a Dull resident about the idea and the village soon established contact with Boring.

Now the two are exploring the possibility of developing a 'sister community' relationship.

“It’s bad enough when people stop dead to photograph the signpost for Dull." Scottish community council chairman Tommy Pringles said. “Imagine how many would do a double-take if it said 'Welcome to Dull, a sister community of Boring'?”

While Boring was named after William H. Boring, an early resident of the area, Dull's name comes from a Gaelic word for either 'meadow' or 'snare', notes the BBC.

Perhaps this could be the beginning of other humorous partnerships. Little Heaven, Delaware might want to establish contact with Hell, Norway.
