Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been with his girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, for nearly a decade, but in that time, the two have kept their relationship relatively private. It wasn't until Johnson and Hashian announced they were expecting a child -- a little girl reportedly due in January -- that their quiet union became a part of the spotlight. Now, Johnson is opening up about his feelings toward his longtime love, as he excitedly prepares to become a father for the second time.
As the actor and former pro-wrestler tells "Oprah's Master Class," throughout the course of his relationship with Hashian, he has come to better understand the impact of being in a loving, grounded partnership.
"I've learned the power that we have to make other people happy and content in a relationship," Johnson says.
Aside from his beloved teen daughter from a previous marriage, Johnson refers to Hashian as the love of his life, and doesn't take for granted the deep bond that they share.
"I wake up every day so grateful and so thankful that [I] have someone like that," he says of his girlfriend. "Someone who you could walk through this world with."
Especially given his past, Johnson adds, it's amazing to look back and see how far he has come as a partner and a man.
"This is the kid who grew up an only child, who shouldered all the family's problems," he says. "That kid, who had a hard time with relationships, to this man today."
Johnson's contagious smile only gets bigger as he talks about Hashian and their happiness.
"Yeah, the smile is real, when I think about that," he grins.
