It's never too late to say thank you.
In fact, it's been almost 50 years since a lifeguard rescued Eady Rothstein from drowning. According to NBC New York, she recently found a way to show her savior her gratitude.
In 1964, Rothstein, who lives in New Jersey, was just 5 years old when she slipped and fell into a clubhouse pool near Long Island's Lido Beach in New York. Larry Brickman, then 21, was the lifeguard on duty and he was able to pull Rothstein from the pool and perform CPR on her.
"I've always said I wanted to thank him, and I should do it," Rothstein told NBC.
The news source reported that Rothstein found the original news story about the drowning in a family scrapbook, and used a simple Google search to track down Brickman, who now lives in Florida.
"I owe my life," Rothstein told NBC, "and it's a very nice feeling to finally be able to say, 'Thank you.'" The pair now has plans for an in-person meeting.
Rothstein is one of many who owe their lives to brave lifeguards. Last summer, a California teen saved a little girl's life on her very first day on the job.
Another Australian teen -- who is not a lifeguard -- saved three lives in three years, and a 5-year-old girl became a hero last summer when she was able to save another toddler from drowning.
