Police Recover Prosthetic Leg Stolen From Veteran By Eagles Fan

Eagles Fan Steals Veteran's Prosthetic Leg

Good news: Philadelphia police have recovered a prosthetic leg stolen from a Vietnam veteran by an Eagles fan Sunday night.

Bad news: An Eagles fan saw fit to steal a Vietnam vet's prosthetic leg Sunday, taking it from Sonny Forriest Jr. -- a local fixture -- while he sang for fans outside Lincoln Financial Field.

"A young lady accosted me,” Forriest told CBS Philadelphia. “Jumped in my lap, broke my microphone, jumped up and said, ‘Oh, I’ll pay for it.’ Then I said, ‘Just leave me alone.’ Then I turned my head and turned back around, and she was cutting through the cars and she was running with my leg, and I didn’t even know it.”

Three women were allegedly involved in the crime, which reportedly marks the second time Forriest has had his leg stolen since a first incident in the 1990s.

He told NBC Philadelphia he doesn't mean to press charges against the unidentified thief, he just hopes she can get some help. "It’s a shaaaame, the way you mess around with old men!” he told the station, singing a message to assailant. “It’s a shaaaame the way you hurt me!”

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority police found the leg on a subway train later Sunday night, reports 6ABC, and returned it to Forriest. While police have surveillance video of the suspect, they have yet to make any arrests.
