Two very important dates are coming up; Earth Day on April 22nd and Arbor Day on April 28th. In anticipation of same, James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Best Restaurant 2017, KYU is celebrating. Located in Miami's hip Wynwood neighborhood, KYU has been committed to eco-friendly practices since opening just over a year ago. The restaurant is run by two friends who are both fathers of young children and feel it's important to chip in as best they can.

This year on Earth Day, KYU will be launching an option for guests to join them in donating to Trees for the Future -- a nonprofit organization that plants trees around the world -- by adding an option on the menu. They will be promoting this effort in the restaurant through Arbor Day on which they will donate $1 per guest with a goal of planting 6,000 trees. These efforts are in addition to others including use of an Orca Composter to reduce waste, recycling materials and sourcing locally.
