Ed Helms Reflects On The End Of 'The Office' And 'The Hangover,' His Two 'Career Defining' Projects (VIDEO)

Ed Helms: Saying Goodbye To 'The Office' And 'The Hangover'

Ed Helms is at a crazy point in his career. He told "Late Show" that he just recently realized that both of his "career-defining" projects are ending about a week apart. "The Office" airs its series finale this Thursday night, while "The Hangover Part III" hits theaters next Friday, May 24

“I’ve been so busy promoting the movie and talking about ‘The Office,’ I feel like I’m in this state of denial," he admitted. "And in about two weeks I’ll go home and curl up with my mother and sob uncontrollably.”

On "Today," Helms said that he felt this was a "good time to wrap things up” and that he has “tremendous gratitude for the whole ride.”

And as it always works, as one door closes -- or in this case, two doors close -- another opens. Two days after "The Hangover Part III" comes out, Helms will be appearing in Season 4 of "Arrested Development" on Netflix.

Check out Ed Helms in the series finale of "The Office" on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on NBC. He then appears in "The Hangover Part III," in theaters May 24, followed by "Arrested Development" on Netflix beginning May 26. Catch "Late Show with David Letterman" every weeknight at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS.
