Ed Rendell: 'I'm For Michele Bachmann' As Mitt Romney VP Pick (VIDEO)

Ed Rendell's VP Pick Will Make You Chuckle

Former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) injected some humor into Mitt Romney's Veepstakes on Sunday.

In an appearance on CBS' "Face The Nation," Rendell quipped about selecting a former GOP presidential hopeful, drawing a chuckle from host Bob Schieffer.

“I just want to go on record," Rendell said. "I’m for Michele Bachmann for vice president. I want everyone to be clear about that."

About a year ago, Bachmann was surging as a favorite for the GOP presidential nomination. She scored a victory in Iowa's Ames Straw Poll last August, declaring that "this the very first step toward taking back the White House!" Five months later, Bachmann announced the final step of her presidential campaign, dropping out after a poor sixth-place showing at January's Iowa Caucuses.

As for Mitt Romney's timetable on selecting a running mate, he revealed little in a Sunday interview with CNN's Gloria Borger.

"Okay, governor, I know you're not going to tell me who your running mate is, but can you tell me if you've decided or not?" Borger asked.

“I have nothing for you on the vice presidential front,” Romney said. “I give you nothing on that. But I can assure that by the third day of the Republican convention, we will nominate a Republican VP.”
