There's a new war of words between Ed Schultz and Glenn Beck.
Schultz, who — like Beck — hosts both a radio show and a cable news show, diminished the significance of Beck's rally this week by saying that he could easily bring 300,000 people to the Washington mall.
"I could get every union head in this country. I could organize every progressive group in this country. The main bloggers. This could be the Ed March," Schultz said. "Folks, 300,000 people on the heels of six months promotion: that ain't no big shakes! This is no sign that there's going to be any turn of events when it comes to the ballot box...
"NBC News says 300,000 people. I bet I could do that!" he continued. "I bet I could do that with this radio show and my TV show and six months promotion. If I had the budget, I could equal that march. I know I could...I guarantee you, I could do more than 300,000. It ain't a big deal."
On his radio show Wednesday, Beck responded by mocking Schultz's ratings.
"Ed Schultz said he could draw 300,000 people at the mall," Beck said. "Hey Ed, just a quick personal note: first, why don't you try to draw 300,000, you know, in the demo? Just to turn on their TV. And then you get back to us on the mall."
In August, Schultz's MSNBC show saw its best ratings yet: 623,000 total viewers, and 176,000 viewers in the Adults 25-54 demographic.
