Ed Sheeran Sang 'Chasing Cars' At A Wedding, And Now We're Swooning

It doesn’t get more romantic than this.

Having Snow Patrol guitarist and pianist Johnny McDaid for a brother certainly has its perks.

On Sunday, McDaid’s sister Brid got married at the Beech Hill Country House Hotel in Londonderry, Northern Ireland. For the first dance, Ed Sheeran and McDaid serenaded the lucky newlyweds with a live rendition of Snow Patrol’s “Chasing Cars.”

Wedding band Rubix posted a video of the performance, which later turned into a sing-along with the guests, on their Facebook page.

“They needed a bass player and guitar player so our guys joined them for it and a cover of [Stevie Wonder’s] ‘Superstition,’” Rubix lead singer Aaron Hughes told website JOE.ie. “Our guys being big fans of both Ed and Snow Patrol were chuffed.”

According to the Irish Independent, the 30-minute set also included Sheeran’s song “Tenerife Sea,” which he co-wrote with McDaid for his 2014 album “X”.

This weekend’s surprise performance pretty much cements Sheeran’s status as the king of first dances. Spotify named his hit “Thinking Out Loud” the most popular first dance song two years in a row. All hail, King Ed!
