Edward R. Murrow Awards 2010: NBC News Dominates, Williams & Olbermann Shine

NBC News dominated the Edward R. Murrow Awards, winning an impressive five awards, including one for Overall Excellence.

The Murrow Awards "honor excellence in electronic journalism", and are named for legendary broadcaster Edward R. Murrow. .

"NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" won for Best Newscast ('Crash of Colgan Air Flight 3407') and Video Breaking News ('Miracle on the Hudson: Surviving Flight 1549'). The network also won in the Reporting - Hard News category for a "Dateline" report, "To Save the Children."

MSNBC's Keith Olbermann won the Best Writing award for his tribute to his mother Marie. "A Baseball Fan Named Marie" aired two days after his mother's death.

CBS News won four awards (two for "60 Minutes") for best feature reporting and investigative reporting. CBS also won the News Documentary and News Series categories. ABC News received one Murrow award for Continuing Coverage related to Iran's election crisis.
