Inspired by Huffington Post’s #TalkToMe project, Elaine Sanchez sat down with her 89-year-old Aunt Jean and recorded family stories and Jean’s memories of events including The Great Depression and WWII. This is the third in a series of conversations. In this one Jean reveals how Elaine’s older brother got his start in life.

Elaine Sanchez is the author of the unflinchingly honest and surprisingly funny book, Letters from Madelyn, Chronicles of a Caregiver. She is the co-founder of CaregiverHelp.com, an online support program for family and professional caregivers, and when she delivers keynotes and workshops at conferences around the country, her presentations often have attendees laughing through their tears.
