The Touching Moment Eli Manning Almost Lost It At Coach Coughlin's Farewell

"Eli, it's not you. It's not you. It's us."

The relationship between mentor and student can be a special thing -- just think of the bonds formed between Plato and Aristotle, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau, Obi-Wan Ben Kenobi and Luke Skywalker.

On Tuesday morning, newly resigned New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin and franchise quarterback Eli Manning joined the ranks of these other great duos, as the two proved their love for one another through words, sighs and lip quivers at Coughlin’s farewell press conference.

First, Coughlin compared the 35-year-old quarterback to his wife of nearly 50 years.

Then, he addressed Manning’s assumption that he and the rest of the players had failed Coughlin, and not the other way around.

Eli, it’s not you,” Coughlin said. “It’s not you. It’s us.”

Swoon.

But that was all just a preface to the main event -- the pièce de résistance of the press conference, the Giants’ 2015 season and the 12 years the two have spent side by side.

We're talking about the lip quiver, as Manning tried to keep from shedding tears as Coughlin spoke his final words as part of the Giants family. Let's bring that GIF back.
