Elizabeth Warren Ad Hits On Control Of The Senate

New Warren Message Makes Brown The 'One Vote'

Massachusetts Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren released a new ad Friday tying Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) to the national GOP, a message she is pushing while he tries to tout his independence.

"Just one vote, just one senator, could put Republicans in control of the United States Senate," says a narrator. "Scott Brown could be that senator. What would Republican control mean? Deep cuts in education, Medicare. New tax breaks for millionaires. The next Supreme Court justice could overturn Roe v. Wade. One vote could make the difference. Your vote against a Republican Senate. Your vote for Elizabeth Warren."

Brown is personally popular in the state, but his voting record is more conservative than his moderate image. For instance, in a recent debate, Warren pointed out that he voted for the failed Blunt Amendment, which would have allowed employers to not cover birth control for moral reasons, while stressing that he is pro-choice.

He said in another debate that he was "undecided" about whom he would vote for as Republican leader, despite the fact that the only candidate is Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), a conservative Republican.

Brown, in turn, has run ads stressing his independence and touting his work with President Barack Obama on the STOCK Act, which sought to combat insider trading by members of Congress.
