Ellen DeGeneres Praises Bruce Jenner But Throws Shade At His 'Poo-Poo Head' Critics

Bruce Jenner's Critics Are 'Poo-Poo Heads,' According To Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres praised Bruce Jenner, who came out as transgender last month, calling him "incredibly brave" in a segment on her show.

"It took a lot of courage to do that," DeGeneres says in the clip, which aired last week. "Even if you don't understand it, and I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't understand it, you have to admire someone who is willing to risk ridicule and tell the truth. It's so much easier to live your life keeping a secret because we all want to fit in."

The talk show host doesn't mince words when it came to Jenner's critics, either.

"I think when people feel uncomfortable and they don't understand something that's how they deal with it, they make jokes," she observes. "It's very childish and I think those people are poo-poo heads."

DeGeneres was one of several celebrities to tweet her support immediately after Jenner's interview with Diane Sawyer first aired:

Note: Though Jenner has come out as “for all intents and purposes a woman,” he has not yet indicated that he would like to be known by a new name or female pronouns, so this story uses male pronouns.
