A lot has changed since the days when little girls and boys dreamed of the fancy white wedding. Those dreams have been diluted by grandiose costs of equipping a wedding with an equally grandiose bill attached. Say the ‘W’ word and you’re in for expense with a capital E.

If you’re a soon-to-be-bride lamenting that her “very nice, very reasonable” parents are strong-arming her into one type of wedding while your fiancé’s parents are lobbying him for a different type and the quarrelling has only just begun, then it might be the better part of valour to elope. Firstly however, leave telling your parents until the last minute and invite them to attend. Just be aware there will be a few hurt feelings and some anger but at every angle you’ve got to remain true to yourselves. Your wedding day will be the happiest day of your life. So, decision’s final. You’re going to elope. But to where?

  1. The Paws Up Resort in Montana is probably one of the prettiest places in all of creation. For a one-of-a-kind, exceptional experience it would be difficult to surpass the magnificent Montana landscape. You’re special and you deserve all this place has to offer. You’ll be given the best of attention from attentive staff and you will enjoy their amazing food. And to finish it off, you’ve got 37,000 acres of breath taking terrain to enjoy. In a word or two, it’s a dream destination to build dreamy memories that will last you a lifetime.
  1. Mill City Museum in Minneapolis, Minnesota is no longer considered one of the most devastating accidents. This is a modern museum that promises everything a historian would enjoy in discovery. It has been operating since 2003 where originally built on the banks of the Mississippi River, it no longer possesses the haunting label of “The Great Mill Disaster” rather it is a delight to visit. Half of this building is now a condominium while the other half is the Mill City Museum where some of Minneapolis’ greatest graffiti artists’ works still remain. For something different; it’s right here.
  1. ‘Roughing’ it at Camp Wandawega in Elkhorn, Wisconsin is a piece of enjoyable cake. This slice of get-away has been lovingly recreated from a time in the peaceful 1950’s was like a “Summer Camp”. You will step back in time as you’re charmed and transported into a scene in an old movie. You’ll be able to walk through the grounds and hunt out the teepees, canoe on the lake and at the end of the day, enjoy the fragrance of a camp fire. If you’ve never camped and would like to try, Camp Wandawega will spoil you.
  1. The Niagara Falls, New York does not need an introduction. It remains one of the Seven Wonders of the world and is a slice of untamed paradise that will leave you fascinated and awed by it’s raw beauty. Get down and personal and experience a boat ride that will take you among 600,000 gallons of raging white water where you’ll feel the power of her spray. At the end of your day with a choice of over 25 restaurants with live music, you’ll while your nights away until you fall, pleasantly exhausted between fine linen in one of the many hotels in the vicinity.
  1. Terrain at the Glen Mills Garden Café, Pennsylvania is a four and a half stars experience that will enhance your first choice of dining. Lush with plants and soft foliage, whether you’re at lunch, or desiring something casual, while you enjoy every dish has been designed to please, the service you’ll find is exceptional. Confirmation that it presents with excellent food is it’s popularity. It is here you will receive the best in a restaurant of this calibre. This timely eatery is the epitome of tradition and etiquette. With an exceptionally special ambiance, you will dine in an upper class atmosphere where spectacular memories will be made.

Deciding to elope can be a difficult choice; but being true to yourself means you’re building memories that will last and they’ll want to be happy not filled with regret. You do not have to remain true to tradition and if you wish to invest in a new home, then eloping might just be the way. Above are five of the most romantic places to elope in the United States and they will not destroy your hip pocket. Because, let’s face it, the average cost of a wedding in America is sky rocketing. You’ll need over and above $20,000 and that is only in favour of guest size and venue.

Sometimes alternatives are the way and whilst it might all be very nice on the ego, one needs to look at the bigger picture. The pressure on a couple can be enormous and planning can be stressful. An attractive wedding is one that is intimate, with a handful of very special people to witness your very special day.

All you need now is to decide where you want to go.

Congratulations; your lifetime memories are awaiting your arrival.
