Elton John Announces 'Rocketman,' Biopic Of His Life

Elton John Biopic

There have been scores of movies made about musicians over the years, but Elton John has taken the extra step to produce his own. The film, titled "Rocketman," will be helmed by John, his parter David Furnish and Steve Hamilton Shaw through John's production company, Rocket Pictures, and will chronicle John's musical career. The 70s superstar is also teaming up with 'Billy Elliot' writer Lee Hall to create what website Deadline called "a biographical musical fantasy that will weave together John’s life and his music."

Deadline interviewed Shaw, who said that, "Rocketman will be a radically different kind of biopic. It will be as unique as Elton’s life, told in a non-linear and hyper-visual manner that will transport people through the many intense experiences, some wonderful, some not, that helped define Elton as an artist, musician and man.”

The big question is: who will play Elton John? According to Contact Music, John wants either Robert Downey Jr. or James McAvoy to play him. John reportedly said that "Well James McAvoy could do it. He's already offered."
