Elvis Presley had dreams of taking his music across the Atlantic.
The singer shared his interest in performing in Britain during a rare press conference held one day before the start of his iconic four-night run of concerts at New York's Madison Square Garden in 1972. Those shows were his first time performing in New York City.
When asked during the press conference if he would ever play in Britain, Elvis gushed about the opportunity to return abroad and perform.
"I've never been to Britain, I'd like to, very much, I've never been out of this country except in the service," he said.
The footage is included in the new anniversary edition of "Prince From Another Planet: 40th Anniversary Edition." The set includes two CDs that feature the Saturday recording of his Madison Square Garden show. There is also a bonus DVD that features a documentary of the show and unseen footage of Elvis from the concert -- quite the treat for Elvis fans.
The press conference occurred on the Friday before the sold-out concerts kicked off and was also his last press conference before his death five years later.
"Prince From Another Planet" hits stores today.
