Elwyn Gene Miller, Landlord, Accused Of Spying On Tenants While They Showered

Landlord Accused Of Spying On Showering Tenants

An Iowa City landlord is accused of spying on four of his female tenants through holes above their showers.

An arrest report obtained by The Smoking Gun said Elwyn Gene Miller, 63, told police he "was not interested in them as persons but because they were women and naked.”

The alleged peeping took place between August and October of 2012. He allegedly looked down on the women while they were showing.

The holes above the showers were reported to Miller, but he never fixed them, according to the report.

“I felt so violated,” Saba Hafeez, one of the victims told the Gazette. “I started bawling."

Ruth Lapointe, who cops said was also spied on, said she's had trouble sleeping since she found out about the allegations last Wednesday.

"I felt I needed to be inebriated to get to sleep that night,” Lapointe said. “It’s the most frightening experience of my life.”

Detectives told KCRG that Miller owns three other properties on the same block. They are investigating whether Miller was watching tenants in those buildings also.
