Embarrassing Dad Places Full-Page Ad To Find Adult Son A Wife

Meet the real-life "Bachelor."

If you thought your meddling parents made your dating life hell, just be glad you aren't Baron Brooks. The 48-year-old Salt Lake City businessman couldn't believe his eyes when he saw a full-page ad in The Coeur d'Alene Press with his photo and the heading "Looking For A Wife."

Though it reads like a personal ad placed by himself, Baron says it was actually his father, Arthur Brooks, who purchased the $900 ad in Saturday's edition of the daily Idaho newspaper.

"Dad has always been after me to have kids," Baron told The Huffington Post, explaining his father's motive to place the ad, which states he's "ready, willing and able to have children as soon as possible." He says his father was recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure, making him feel like he doesn't have much time left to make sure his son settles down.

Baron says he only found out about the ad after receiving countless friend requests from women in the Pacific Northwest early this week and then receiving a call from a reporter asking if he was "The Baron Brooks that's looking for a wife."

"It is a little embarrassing, but I have thick skin," he said. "What am I supposed to do? I love my dad, but he's crazy. He's nuts. He means to do the right thing and it just comes out wrong -- this is a perfect example."

As for why the ad was placed in an Idaho paper when Baron himself lives in Salt Lake City, Baron explains it might be because his father recently vacationed at a resort in northern Idaho and is looking to find his son a more right-leaning wife.

Remember, the ad reads, "You must be politically conservative. This is very important to me. If you voted for Obama or plan to vote for Hillary you are not for me."

As for what happens next, prospective bachelorettes will be screened by dad next Saturday at a resort in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

And Baron? He says he'll be a good sport, though he didn't sign up for any of this.

"I will let him have his fun and who knows?" Baron says. "I don't think he understood the consequences of what he did and I don't want these women to be hurt. I will absolutely give them a shot because it's the right thing to do now."

So ladies that are in their mid-30s, willing to relocate to Salt Lake City and ready to become stay-at-home moms, line up.
