Eric Garcetti's Inauguration As New Mayor Of LA Will Include A Block Party, Moby Performance

Party With Moby At Garcetti's Inauguration Block Party

Electronica legend Moby will be among three or four other music acts taking part in the inauguration of Mayor-elect Eric Garcetti on Sunday, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Instead of a formal gala, Garcetti's inauguration will be a free block party in Grand Park, which is alongside City Hall. The Facebook event says it will be from 6 to 9 p.m., and that "a celebration featuring food, music and fun will begin at the conclusion of the ceremony." So far, 138 people have RSVPed on Facebook.

Moby has been a passionate supporter of Garcetti's campaign for mayor. Back when he played at one of Garcetti's fundraising events in February, the musicial councilman jammed with Moby, played some solo tunes and busted some break dance moves (video below). We're betting that he'll do the same on Sunday.

Other elected officials who will be sworn in at the ceremony include City Atty.-elect Mike Feuer, City Controller-elect Ron Galperin and eight City Council members, six of them newly elected, the Los Angeles Times reports. Garcetti is reportedly polishing his inaugural speech as he vacations this week with his family in Belize.
