Massive Manhunt For Accused Cop Killer Eric Matthew Frein (LIVE UPDATES)

LIVE UPDATES: Massive Manhunt For Accused Cop Killer

A massive manhunt continues Tuesday in the forests of northeastern Pennsylvania for suspected cop killer Eric Matthew Frein.

For 10 days, Frein has proven to be a challenging target for the hundreds of law enforcement personnel who have been searching for him in the area near Canadensis, a town of less than 3,000 residents, where he lived.

Police are combing through dense forest areas, giving the fugitive lots of cover, if he is still in the area, as authorities believe.

Authorities say Frein, who is a military enthusiast and has extensive training as a marksman, is responsible for the Sept. 12 shooting of Pennsylvania state troopers Alex Douglass and Bryon Dickson. The troopers were ambushed during a shift change outside the Blooming Grove barracks. Dickson was killed in the attack.

The 31-year-old man is facing charges of homicide of a law enforcement officer and attempted murder, police said. He is also facing federal charges for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

While the accused shooter's motives remain unclear, Frein previously made statements about "wanting to kill law enforcement officers" and also wanting to "commit mass acts of murders," State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan said during a recent press conference.

Authorities on Monday said they are closing in on Frein and expect to have him in custody soon.
