Erica Hill has officially been named co-host of the weekend edition of "Today," NBC announced on Thursday.

News of Hill's jump to NBC from CBS, where she was replaced as co-anchor of "CBS This Morning" and had no obvious position to turn to, had already leaked out in early October.

Hill will start Saturday alongside longtime "Weekend Today" anchor Lester Holt. She will also become a correspondent for NBC News, reporting for all programs. Jenna Wolfe, who had been co-hosting with Holt, has been bumped down to the news anchor position.
