Living in New York in February is the worst. Every restaurant is packed with couples. Awkward single red roses hover off the edge of tiny cafe tables. There's no chocolate to buy within a 50-mile radius. Even now, as a newlywed, I can't come to terms with the idea of this holiday.
I try as hard as I can to avoid New York City during Valentine's Day, imagining instead that I'm on the furthest reaches of the globe.
The HuffPost Travel community had similar feelings when we opened up on a shared confusion of this heart-y holiday on out social accounts.
