Our favorite Pre-Oscars event went down yesterday, the Essence Women In Hollywood Luncheon.
Not only is it an opportunity to honor the women of color making their mark in television and film -- actress Lupita Nyong’o was honored with the Best Breakthrough Performance award; marketing executive Cheryl Boone Isaacs was given the Trailblazer Award and director Ava DuVernay snagged the Visionary Award -- but it's also one of the best red carpet moments of the year.
The event, which was held on Thursday at the Beverly Hilton, brought together virtually every fab black actress in the biz. Kerry Washington (and her bump) were on hand and drapped in a royal blue Calvin Klein frock. Tika Sumpter stunned in a baroque printed Bibhu Mohapatra design. Naomie Harris was a vision in a white Wes Gordan number, and that's just the tip of the super fly iceberg.
