Evelyn Matamoro, Miami Mom, Shot In The Face After Complying With Robber (VIDEO)

WATCH: Mom Shot In The Face Despite Cooperating With Robber

A Miami mother did everything a robber asked -- and was shot in the face despite cooperating.

Police say the woman, identified by WSVN as Evelyn Matamoro, was grabbing takeout from the Café Ruyi Chinese restaurant in Liberty City around 5:30 p.m. Thursday with her mother and two children in tow when confronted by an armed man.

When the gunman demanded her purse, Matamoro complied and handed it over. But police say once the assailant had the purse, he shot her in the face before taking off in what may have been a gray Dodge Charger.

"It appears [according] to what witnesses are telling us, they saw the woman give him the purse and just seconds after he got the purse out of her hand, he shoots her in the face," said Miami Police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes.

Matamoro was transported to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she is listed in critical condition.

"It was blood coming from her mouth -- a lot of blood was gushing from her mouth," a witness told NBC6.

Update 12:20 p.m. -- Miami police report suspect Kamiah Lanier, 20, was arrested in the case and charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and one count of use of a firearm during commission of a felony.
