It is exactly a year since millions of people crowded the streets and the hotel rooms of our nation's capital for the inauguration of Barack Obama. For a fairly small town, Washington DC certainly has some wonderful places to camp out. Though I must admit, there was no way I would have paid the outrageous prices these hotels were asking during the inauguration week.

I have stayed in many of Washington's hotels and have some favorites that I will share with you in the following weeks. But let's start with one of DC's finest, the newly renovated Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown, a hotel that has played host to everyone from foreign dignitaries to the Rolling Stones....yes, Mick and company! Actually, whenever any major movie or music star comes to town, they usually hang their guitars or cameras at this quiet and elegant hotel.

The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms even more so. Compared to most NY apartment bathrooms, I could easily move into this one! The rooms all come equipped with a coffee maker on top of the mini bar. I always bring my own coffee to brew when I know the hotel offers this nice amenity. Making my own coffee certainly beats waiting for room service to bring that first cup of joe, although service at the Four Seasons is very quick and the coffee quite wonderful.

The beds, a Four Seasons specialty, are large and incredibly comfortable.
Getting out of these comfortable beds can be quite difficult, but push yourself because mornings at the hotel are high powered, and you can do some serious networking by holding court in the downstairs Seasons restaurant. Come early because Hillary, Nancy, and John as in McCain, are up with the rooster and stay just long enough to down some of the hotel's delicious organic coffee and wonderful pancakes, brioche French toast and eggs Benedict or one of the more healthy, but still tasty, breakfast items.

If you sleep through breakfast downstairs, as I usually do, have no fear, because you can catch up with more of Washington's famous faces later when dining in Michael Mina's Bourbon Steak restaurant just off the lobby. I couldn't get enough of the lobster corn dogs. I would return just to have some more of these delectable appetizers. Follow up with one of their fabulous steaks.

So, politics are not your thing, yet you are still looking for some fun as well as interesting faces, then be sure to take time to have cocktails in the Four Seasons bar, it is still the hottest bar in DC. There are more interesting and beautiful women and handsome men downing martini's at this bar, so don't miss it!

While sipping your cocktails, you can order from Michael Mina's restaurant. Try one of the Bourbon burgers, either the wonderful salmon burger, turkey, a vegetarian falafel burger or the real deal, an oak-fired prime dry aged steak burger along with of some of their duck fat fries or beer battered red onion rings. Please don't leave without trying Michael's Rootbeer float with sassafras ice cream, root beer sorbet and served with walnut-chocolate chip cookies. Hey, after a meal like this, you should have enough energy to fight for passage of any of your respective party's initiatives on the floor of congress.

Whether you are on the winning or losing side, work off your steam with a good, long workout and swim in the hotels' terrific gym. Then indulge yourself by having a relaxing massage, or facial in their spa.

Whatever your reasons for visiting Washington D.C., it is always so nice to come home to the Four Seasons in Georgetown.
