'Everyone Is Gay' Launches Digital Platform For Parents Of LGBT Youth

The popular advice website "Everyone Is Gay" launched a new online initiative today for the parents of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth who have recently come out.

In conjunction with Spirit Day, the organization is spearheading an IndieGoGo campaign for an online outlet and resource platform that seeks to "include advice for parents whose children have recently come out to them, as well as a video series featuring kids talking to parents about their coming out 'moment.'"

According to a statement, "Everyone Is Gay" founders Kristin Russo and Dannielle Owens-Reid are attempting to address the severe lack of resources for parents who may not understand or have the experience to conceptualize the nature of the coming out process. The pair noted that "a large number of their queries [on 'Everyone Is Gay'] came from young people seeking guidance on how to talk to their parents." This initiative seeks to remedy that lack of an outlet for the parents of LGBT youth and aid in making the coming out process smoother.
