Ewan McGregor Wasn't Impressed With The New 'Star Wars' Lightsaber

Ewan McGregor played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the "Star Wars" prequels, and while he won't appear in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," the erstwhile Jedi has some thoughts on the film's new lightsaber.

"I was a bit dubious about the hilt on the lightsaber," McGregor told Vanity Fair, before goofing on the new breed of "Star Wars" heroes and villains. "If you know how to handle a lightsaber, like we did, you don't need a hilt. That's just one thing I think they might have got wrong."

Despite that concern, McGregor has high hopes for the J.J. Abrams film.

"The trailer looks very good," he said. "It looks like they've kept the right spirit."

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is out Dec. 18. Watch McGregor's full interview with Vanity Fair below.
