'Extreme Weight Loss': Nurse Inspires Six Co-Workers To Lose Weight, Too

Chris Powell took on a profession with one of the highest obesity rates on "Extreme Weight Loss." Trina was a 46-year-old nurse who admitted that she used food as a coping mechanism for depression. She especially binged whenever her mother put her down. So severe was her binging, that she gained 32 pounds over three weeks at one point while working with Chris.

But Trina got back on track, and her progress and commitment even inspired several of her co-workers. Six of her fellow nurses joined her with weight loss journeys of their own, which was more than Chris could have hoped for.

At the end of their year together, he was euphoric to announce, "After six nurses, total weight loss is ... 363 pounds!” Trina herself had the most dramatic transformation, going from 290 pounds down to 145 pounds in the year she worked with Chris. She felt that she and her team of co-workers could inspire others to get healthier as well.

Douglas Cobb of The Guardian Express thought this was another great episode. "It takes a lot of guts and determination for Trina and everyone else who appears on shows like 'Extreme Weight Loss' to have their lives in all of their good and bad moments on TV for the world to view," he wrote. A writer going simply by the name Dave did the math for TV Grapevine. The group's 363 pound weight loss was impressive, he felt, but adding in Trina's 14 pounds gives Chris a total of 500 pounds lost for the seven people involved in this week's episode
