The girlfriend of the Dallas Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott filed two police reports with the Columbus Police Department on Friday morning accusing the rookie running back of domestic violence, according to records obtained by The Huffington Post.
Police were called to the scene of alleged abuse early Friday morning. In the first report, Tiffany Thompson claims Elliott, her former live-in boyfriend, attacked her while she was sitting in the driver’s seat of her parked car. Elliott denied both striking Thompson and ever living with her when talking to responding officers. Elliott was not arrested at the scene, as four witnesses all denied seeing an assault.
A second police report, also filed by Thompson early Friday morning, accuses Elliott of repeated domestic abuse between July 16 and July 20. She claims that, during those days, Elliott hit her several times, leaving bruises. Elliott denied those allegations as well and told police that Thompson’s bruises were from a bar fight she was involved in. Due to conflicting versions of events, Elliott was not arrested for these allegations either.
Requests for comment from the Cowboys and Elliott’s agent weren’t immediately returned. A spokesman from Elliott’s agent’s office told TMZ Sports, “I can assure you [the allegations] are not true.” The Fort Worth Star-Telegram also confirmed that the NFL has launched an investigation into Thompson’s allegations.
“We begin a review when we become aware of a potential violation of the personal conduct policy,” a rep for the league explained to TMZ Sports.
Hours after Friday’s police reports were filed, Thompson posted photos to her Instagram account showing what appear to be bruises and alleged that she had been abused for months. In the caption for the first photo, Thompson didn’t specifically name Elliott, but claimed that she’s been thrown across rooms, tossed into walls, choked and mentally abused.
In her second post, she showed more apparent bruises on her body and tagged Elliott’s Instagram handle. Both posts were later deleted, but Deadspin grabbed screenshots of them before she took them down.
