Here's What Facebook Would Have Looked Like In 1995

If Facebook had existed 20 years ago, when the Internet was still very much in its infancy, the social media site may have looked a little like this.

Created by comedian Brent Weinbach, this parody ad shows a man explaining the joys of a newfangled software known as “The Facebook” to his incredulous friend.

“How about just clicking on your mom's profile and saying ‘Happy Birthday?’” the guy sagely advises his pal. “It's the same thing as sending her a package."

The clip is a parody of a real 1995 commercial for America Online. Weinbach’s creation mimics the vintage ad perfectly. (Watch it below.)

Facebook, originally known as “thefacebook,” was created by Mark Zuckerberg in 2004 as a social media site for students at Harvard. Today, the social media site has more than 1.3 billion monthly active users worldwide.
