Fan Lets Foul Ball Hit Girlfriend At Astros Game (VIDEO)

WATCH: Fan Lets Foul Ball HIT Girlfriend

A trip to the ballpark took a painful turn for one fan when she was struck by a foul ball Monday night -- all because her boyfriend ducked out of the way to let her take the hit.

On a 2-2 pitch in the fourth inning of a contest between the Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves, Astros third baseman Chris Johnson smacked a line drive foul down the left field line. The ball hit a fan, only identified as Sarah, on the elbow, according to MLB.com. Sarah was left unprotected when her boyfriend, Bo, moved away as the ball was heading their way, breaking a promise to his girlfriend.

"As soon as we got here and I saw where we were sitting, I said 'Baby, we're going to get hit,'" Sarah recalled. "He said, 'No, I'll catch it if you do.' We just had this conversation."

Bo, however, insisted that he was distracted when the ball was hit. "The ball was coming up and I was going to catch it and it was in the lights and I lost track of it," he said, according to MLB.com.

On top of his blunder Bo picked up the ball and, at least in the duration of the video, only let Sarah touch it momentarily. Scroll down to see that video.
