'Fargo' TV Show: FX, Coen Brothers Working On Series

FX Developing 'Fargo' TV Series

"Fargo" could be coming to TV. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joel and Ethan Coen are developing a TV version of their acclaimed 1996 film.

This isn't the first time "Fargo" came close to a TV series. In 1997, Edie Falco starred in a pilot that never made it passed that phase. The Coen Brothers weren't involved.

News of a new "Fargo" series first broke in March 2012. Written by "My Generation's" Noah Hawley, the new "Fargo" one-hour drama has a script order at FX. The Coens and Warren Littlefield are attached to executive produce.

Frances McDormand starred in the Oscar-nominated film as a pregnant police chief opposite William H. Macy, who played a car salesman who hires two criminals, Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare, to kidnap his wife.

There's a long history of successful movies transitioning to TV ... and being not-so successful. For every "Parenthood," there's a "Working Girl." Click through the slideshow below to see some film to TV adaptations. Some worked, others crashed and burned.
