Dad Says He Slept As 100 Teens Partied In His House

A father in Florida says he slept through a party his teenage daughter threw that saw more than 100 people and sent five teens -- including the daughter -- to the hospital.

Authorities responded to the home late Friday night, where they said more than 100 teenagers were partying, many of them fleeing the house upon officers' arrival, WFTV reported.

Five teens between the ages of 15 and 17 were sent to the hospital and two of the teens were listed in critical condition, but are now recovering, according to The Daily Mail. Deputies said the teens were mixing the anti-anxiety drug Xanax with alcohol.

“We found five teenagers who appeared to have overdosed on alcohol and we are not sure of what type of drug right now,” said Lt. Paul Hopkins with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office told the station.

Steve Miller, the owner of the house, and whose daughter was also transported to the hospital, said he had no idea there would be drugs or drinking, and was sleeping during the party.

“If my daughter told me they were going to have alcohol I wouldn’t have permitted it,” Miller told WFTV. “I didn’t see any drugs.”

"I've been living here 30 years, and I've never really seen anything going on over there," a neighbor told WESH. "It just surprises me. I'm like, 'Wow.' Hopefully, the kids are going to be OK," a neighbor said.

No charges have been filed.
