Her body was found along a rural road in Santa Clara County, California. She was murdered, but for now only police and her killer know how. After nearly two years, her identity remains a mystery.
The young woman is known to investigators only as "Santa Clara Jane Doe."
Investigators are now hoping the FBI's recently completed computer generated image of the victim will allow them to put a name to her face.
"We're hoping that people [see those drawings and] remember a friend who appears to look like that and come forward and report it," Sgt. James Jensen, of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office told The Huffington Post on Tuesday.
According to Jensen, Jane Doe's remains were found in the hills above Saratoga on Dec. 14, 2014. It is estimated she died sometime between April 2014 and the date her remains were found. Her death has been ruled a homicide, but police have yet to reveal what caused it.
"We're not releasing that at this point," Jensen said.
Based on a forensic anthropology examination conducted by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office, Jane Doe is believed to be a white female, 15 to 24 years of age, 4-foot-11 to 5-foot-3 inches tall, with a petite build and brown hair.
When she was found she was wearing size zero "Just USA" brand blue jeans, pink colored panties, a size 36A black colored "Lily of France" brand bra; and a size small blue floral print "Ambiance Apparel" brand blouse.
