FDNY 2012 Calendar Released (VIDEO)

WATCH: FDNY 2012 Calendar Released

Is it hot in here or is it just the men of the FDNY? It might also be the raging fire that burns behind one of the firefighters as he stands at the ready with a giant fire hose.

The FDNY has released its official 2012 calendar. A portion of the proceeds will go towards the FDNY Foundation which educates the public about fire dangers.

Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano offered a buttoned-up assessment of the calendar's importance.

"We know this official FDNY calendar will raise funds and awareness about fire safety and will serve to remind everyone of ways to be fire safe year-round," Cassano said. "The FDNY Foundation's important role in our fire safety education, and the great work of our members, has helped push civilian fire deaths to record lows in New York City."

Last year, 12 FDNY firefighters were featured in an unofficial "City of the Brave" calendar, but this is the first official fire department release since 2008.
