Featured Doer: Macon Phillips

At 12:00 pm on January 20, 2009 Philips flipped the switch, making WhiteHouse.gov a place for the newly sworn in president to communicate with people the world over. As the Director of New Media for the White House, Macon Phillips promised a new era of online transparency and participation that included a weekly Web video address, lists of the president's nominations and executive orders, and access to the White House briefing room online.

Phillips had worked as an internet strategist in Obama's campaign, which leveraged YouTube, texting, and social networking to raise money and awareness. He brought this strategy with him to the White House, creating live chats with the president, using Twitter to engage constituents, and soliciting user-generated ideas.

He is one of 15 candidates for a video interview in our HuffPost Spotlight Series, presented by HP. The top five question-getters will be interviewed using your questions!
