Gratitude is the feeling and attitude of appreciation or thankfulness for the benefits we have received or expect to receive. The feeling of genuine gratitude opens the channels for more goodness to enter into our life experience.
Whenever, someone does an act of kindness for you or gives you a gift that just means so much, you may feel gratitude for being thought about or for being enriched in some way. When someone is so nice, it is difficult not to express your gratitude. When you express your gratitude, you are actually giving something very special back to the other person as well as giving something precious to yourself. You are activating the Law of Multiplication in both of your lives.
For, whatever you genuinely feel grateful for, you will have multiply in your life. Think about it, if you gave a gift to another and that person told you, "I am so grateful for the gift. I can't believe how kind you were to give it to me. You have made me so very happy," you'd want to give that person another gift. So you could be feeling genuinely appreciated while at the same time bring a little happiness to another.
It's naturally easy to be grateful for positive and pleasant experiences and gifts. However, you are wise to be grateful for even those events experienced as difficult or negative. You can develop a habit of feeling grateful in general, for consciously looking for or having faith there is a benefit in every situation. In fact, what appears to be bad is actually goodness or gratitude opportunities waiting to be discovered.
Think about this, are you also grateful for losses, difficulties and people who make your life more difficult? Maybe, in order to survive, you developed some skill or discovered an inner strength you didn't realize you had before. Maybe you were pushed to the verge of a breaking point and stopped short to uncover that you had to let go of something or someone that wasn't serving you well. Would you ever stop to think that you could express gratitude in the midst of so much? You can. Give yourself the gift of accepting even trying people or situations as great gifts and being grateful for them.
Being grateful for the ordinary things and events in your daily life contributes in a profound and practical way to well-being and happiness. If you rush through our day's activities without paying attention to what you are doing or feeling thankful for what's in front of us, you' re going through life events without really experiencing them. This state of mindlessness is a way of being numb or cut off from the present moment.
Take some time in this moment to be grateful. It creates a positive feeling, reduces stress and fosters happiness. Feeling grateful and expressing our gratitude is "not just an emotional response" to an event or situation. It is truly a committed choice you should make in any given context to experience greater wellness and vitality in our lives.
