'Feminist Ryan Gosling' Tumblr Is Becoming A Book

The Book You'll Need To Buy This Summer

It’s official. The imagined gender theory musings of everyone's -- and by everyone's we mean HuffPost Women’s -- favorite celebrity heartthrob/activist/HuffPost blogger/saver-of-lives will soon be available in book form. That’s right, “Feminist Ryan Gosling: Feminist Theory (as Imagined) from Your Favorite Sensitive Movie Dude” is being published in August, and it’s already available for pre-order.

The book is based off of the “Feminist Ryan Gosling” Tumblr account that went viral last October. The site features oh-so-dreamy photos of The Gos paired with feminist theory one-liners -- all beginning with the now-famous phrase “Hey girl.” Though this was hardly the only riff on the original “Hey girl” meme (see Gosling Lit Agent and Hunger Games Gosling to name a couple of gems), it took off in a major way.

Highlights include:

The mastermind behind Feminist Ryan Gosling is graduate student and blogger Danielle Henderson, who originally conceived of the Tumblr flashcards as a way to help herself and her fellow students sift through the dense theories they were studying in a lighthearted way. “I never intended for anyone other than my classmates to see it,” she wrote on the Tumblr’s FAQ section. And (gasp!) Henderson doesn’t even find The Gos all that attractive. However, that hasn’t stopped her from writing the kind of clever/sexy academic-speak that makes Gosling fans everywhere swoon.

What do you think? Will “Feminist Ryan Gosling” be on your coffee table come August?
