FGI Night Of Stars 2012 vs. CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalist Event: Which Party Won The Night? (PHOTOS)

And other things that made yesterday's CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund party awesome.

It's rare that two major fashion events -- you know, the kind that draw the likes of Anna Wintour -- happen in one week, much less one day. But on Thursday the fashion industry got gussied up to celebrate its own at two distinct fetes: Fashion Group International's annual Night Of Stars in New York City and the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event in Los Angeles, honoring the 2012 fund finalists.

In classic Los Angeles fashion, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event was held at the Chateau Marmont, LA's celebrity playground, and hosted by Vogue West Coast editor Lisa Love and Vogue Fashion News Director Mark Holgate. The guest list was the kind that might be mistaken for a Golden Globes seating chart: January Jones, Elisabeth Moss, Tobey Maguire, Marisa Tomei, Emma Roberts, Mandy Moore and even Jennifer Aniston (yes, the Jennifer Aniston). Gwen Stefani, Katy Perry and Victoria Beckham rounded out the star power at the sunny event.

The FGI Night of Stars, on the other hand, was as New York as you can get. Held in the evening at the swank Cipriani Wall Street, the dinner pulled city influencers like Sarah Jessica Parker, Seth Meyers, Viola Davis and fashion types like Carolina Herrera, Simon Doonan, L'Wren Scott, Selita Ebanks and Linda Fargo. The evening's biggest name? Renee Zellweger.

So which fashion event had the edge? Let Anna Wintour be the deciding factor. The Vogue editor-in-chief chose to throw her support, unsurprisingly, behind the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event. But we could have seen that one coming.

Check out pics from each fete below. Which party would you have wanted to crash?
