Charity Toy Drive Erupts Into 1,000-Person Frat Fight

A fraternity's holiday toy drive erupted into a fight involving more than 1,000 people at a Los Angeles International Airport hotel early Monday.

Frat members threw punches, chairs and even trash cans, as evident in the KTLA-exclusive cell phone video above. At one point in the video, a man picks up a table and throws it down on people below him.

The hotel ballroom was at capacity, and people were waiting outside to get in. Inside, for about a half hour, it was a sea of bodies pushing, shoving and punching, KTLA reports. Some frat members took off their dress shirts to join the fight, and others had their formal attire ripped off in the chaos.

Witnesses said it was a frightening experience, with people running through the halls, screaming and banging on doors, the Daily Breeze reports. The frenzy, one witness said, was fueled by a combination of liquor, testosterone and girls.

The brawl took place at the 16th annual Kappa Khristmas Jam & Toy Drive at the LAX Radisson, organized by the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity at Cal State Long Beach.

A spokesperson for Kappa Alpha Psi declined to comment to HuffPost about the incident.

No arrests or injuries were reported. Up to 40 officers from the Los Angeles Police Department arrived on the scene and said they dispersed the party at about 1:30 a.m. Monday, CBS reports.

However, one hotel customer said the commotion continued until about 5 a.m.

“The walls started shaking. There was loud banging. There were crazy people in here," Josephine Logan, 52, told the Breeze. “I was scared to get out of my room."
