Hi @Instagram! The #FinalFive here, taking over the account as @TeamUSA visits the White House today for a ceremony with President Obama. We were so honored to represent the United States in #Rio2016 and we couldn't be more excited to be here! Stay tuned as we show you what’s up at the White House. @usagym #TeamUSA
The Final Five was in the house ― the White House, that is.
Team USA’s beloved gymnastics team briefly took over the White House’s Instagram account on Thursday as the ladies joined fellow Olympians and Paralympians for a presidential ceremony to honor their success in Rio de Janeiro.
Gold medalists Aly Raisman, Laurie Hernandez, Simone Biles and Madison Kocian were all smiles as they turned the East Room into an impromptu gymnasium where they stretched and posed for the cameras. Missing from the group was Gabby Douglas, who recently had her wisdom teeth removed.
Hernandez, in particular, made good use of the White House’s space as she performed a private dance routine.
The 16-year-old was also filmed playfully smooching it up with a bust of Honest Abe.
She and her teammates did a little floor routine cuddling with the Obamas’ two adorable dogs, Bo and Sunny.
They juggled fruit with first lady Michelle Obama ― because why not?
When it came to finally posing for pictures with the Obamas and Vice President Joe Biden, we’re really not sure who had the bigger smiles.
Come ceremony time, it was Biles who presented the Obamas with a surfboard that had been signed by the members of Team USA.
President Barack Obama joked, “I was going to do a floor routine with Simone on my way out, but it was so crowded and I can’t touch my toes, so we scrapped that idea.”
The Final Five teammates weren’t the only ones who seemed to have a ball at the White House. Check out more photos taken and shared by the nation’s top athletes:
