If you are an entrepreneur, I'm sure you read a variety of websites, blogs and newsletters with information written by experts who offer their advice on how to have a successful business.

There is such an abundance of great, useful information nowadays with the easy access we have to the Internet.

I follow a few blogs and I've signed up for a dozen or so newsletters that offer great insight and actionable tips. There is always something new to learn or to improve in this ever-changing and evolving world of Internet marketing. If you are selling a product or service online, I'm sure that you've struggled with some issues.

The number one concern that I've found with this array of information is that a lot of people think they have to do EVERYTHING in order to succeed.

It goes a little bit like this:

"I should do like this business teacher, who says that we HAVE to blog once a week."

"I should allow comments at the end of my blog because the marketing expert said so."

"I shouldn't have any comments at the end of my blogs because this famous writer doesn't have them."

See how it goes?

The questions are endless and the answers are even more endless.

I came to discover that as I am creating my own reality on my own terms, I can also create my business on my own terms.

For example, I've noticed there are a lot of people offering online programs that teach others about their field of work. That avenue is one of great profit, and there are a lot of benefits to selling online programs. You can make lots of money, grow your list immensely and share your teachings to bigger groups, as opposed to doing one-on-one consulting.

I've considered going the online programs route for a while, but each time I thought about it, I realized that my "Hell Yeah!" wasn't there fully present for me.

I had to ask myself once and again,

What REALLY feels like a Hell Yeah! for me in terms of a business model?

Right now, where I am standing today, my Hell Yeah! is to focus on getting my book done and working with a few one-on-one coaching clients who will help me bring together the stories for my book.

What I'm doing is very different from creating an online class, and it is probably less profitable than going big by doing online programs. But the truth is that my Hell Yeah! (my heart, my joy) is on my book and in my coaching clients.

I was talking to a friend who is going through the exact opposite scenario. She sells great online classes and she has been told by various people that she should be consulting one on one. She could do that, and she'd probably make great money, but her heart is not there. Her heart is in selling her classes online.

Today, I want to leave you with this thought:

You have to learn the rules, so then you can break them.

The way that I understand that phrase is that it is great to learn, read, get informed and absorb all the good information we can access online or through others, so we can grow our businesses. But at the same time, you have the power and the truth within yourself to know what really motivates you.

In the end, you are the creator of your reality, you can play with different approaches until you find the one that fits you best in any area of your work.

You can always try a different approach for a few weeks or months, and if you don't like it, you can go back to your old method.

There are no rules for creating your epic business.

You are the only one who knows your truth. You know at what pace you like to work. You know how goal setting works best for you.

Follow your Hell Yeah! in every step of your business, and you will find a great freedom that will allow you to be more creative, and as a consequence, more successful. If you feel that there are other areas blocking you from success in your business, I'd love to offer you additional tips through my free audio "7 Steps To Overcoming What Is Stopping You From Success," which you can download now.

Now, I want to hear from you. Have you ever taken steps in your business that didn't feel quite right, just because you saw others in your industry doing it?

Conversely, have you ever done things differently than those around you and found success on your own terms?
