There's less than a month left to the summer season, with a long, luxurious holiday weekend to finish Summer 2015 in style. It's the last chance to get in a few more fun summer parties, BBQs, and events before the weather starts to turn and fall arrives. Whether you're hosting a get-together, or just having dinner on the back deck, here are a few ideas.

There's so much more access to interesting food items than ever before. Stores like Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, online shops, and then of course the boom in Farmer's Markets and other food shopping sources are putting more unique treats in our hands than ever. Update the vegetable plate by doing something a little unexpected -- instead of the usual carrots, celery and other favorites, try thin sliced fresh fennel, fresh beets in any color, turnips and other unexpected vegetables. It's just as tasty and puts a different spin on this common summertime snacking item. You can also get creative with meals this time of year -- a burger bar with a variety of burger types including vegetarian, buns, and toppings can be easy, creative and fun. We love the amazing frozen flatbreads from American Flatbread tossed onto the grill for a simple, decadent way to dine in style this summer.

Drinks are also getting so creative. The explosion of new wines and other spirits has made summer events and parties all the more special. Aperitif is a popular item that's turning up before dinners around the country. Drop a little fruit or mint in a glass and serve to guests. Jardesca Aperitiva on ice was a favorite here all summer long. For mixed drinks, craft cocktails continue to be the trend. Artisan spirits bring a unique element in. Spirit Works has a chic range in gorgeous bottles. Put out a simple bar tray or cart on the patio with mixers, topping and other elements for guests to mix their own.

When it comes to decor, you can make even the most simple of dinner special -- just add some large candles, pretty napkins, and enjoy the last remaining days of summer!
