Floyd Mayweather Beats Manny Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather Beats Manny Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather Jr. extended his undefeated record on Saturday, beating Manny Pacquiao in one of the most widely anticipated boxing matches of the decade.

Winning the welterweight title in a unanimous judges' decision, Mayweather landed 148 of his 435 punches, while Pacquiao landed 81 of his 429 total punches. One ringside judge scored 118-110 toward Mayweather, and the two others each scored 116-112 in the boxer's favor.

"He's a hell of a fighter," Mayweather, who now stands at 48-0, said after the match. "I outboxed him."

Pacquiao didn't seem to think so.

"I thought I won the fight," Pacquiao said, adding that Mayweather was "moving around" and "he didn't do nothing."

"When the history books is written, it's worth the wait," Mayweather said of the match.

Fans of the boxer won't have to wait too long to see him in the ring again, he said.

"My last fight is in September, then it's time for me to hang it up," Mayweather, 38, said.

If Mayweather were to end after one more match, he'd tie Rocky Marciano's 49-0 perfect career record.

The bout was not without its controversy, however. Earlier that day, both ESPN's Michelle Beadle and CNN's Rachel Nichols said they were prevented from entering and covering the event. Both women have been critical of Mayweather's long record of domestic violence.

Mayweather's violent history has been a focus of recent coverage leading into the fight. The boxer dodged answering questions on the topic when recently pressed by ESPN's "Outside The Lines."

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story reported that Mayweather is 39. He is 38.
